He is also presently Associate Chairman of the University of Hawaii's Department of Ocean and Resources Engineering. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the peer-reviewed journal Marine Georesources and Geotechnology. He teaches several courses at the University of Hawaii in the areas of energy and mineral resources. Wiltshire founded the environmental consulting company, TCI Hawaii, which handles a variety of projects in the ocean observation and renewable energy sectors. He is a fellow of the Marine Technology Society (MTS) and was General Chairman of the 1500-person MTS ‘Oceans’ conference in 2011.
